UHWO ID
The Computer Lab is open only to students of the University of Hawai'i West O'ahu. Lab users must show their VALID UHWO ID to use the lab.
Signing In/Out
You must sign in at the front desk before using any computers. Failure to do so will result in you giving up the use of the computer. To sign in, write your FULL NAME, THE NUMBER OF THE COMPUTER YOU WILL BE USING, and the TIME STARTED. Before you leave, log the TIME FINISHED on the sign in sheet.
DO NOT SWITCH COMPUTERS during your session without notifying the lab monitor. If you do decide to switch computers, you must first sign out and then sign back in again--DO NOT JUST CHANGE THE COMPUTER NUMBER IN THE SIGN IN BOOK.
Time Limit
There is no time limit on the use of computers as long as there are no people waiting. A time limit of 2 HOURS per session may be enforced when there are people waiting. Anyone who has been using a computer for more than 2 hours for his/her session may be asked to give up his/her computer to the next person in line.
If you are leaving the computer lab for longer than a 10 minute period then please sign out and sign back in when you return. If there are people waiting to use a computer and you have been gone for longer than a ten minute period, you may lose your computer to another user.
Printing Policy
Paper is free, but please do not abuse it. If we feel you are wasting paper (i.e. printing things unrelated to school, printing multiple copies, or just plain printing too much), we will ask you to stop printing.
NO multiple copies. The printers are not copy machines, do not treat them as such. This rule goes for both school-related and school-unrelated printing (e.g. multiple copies of senior project surveys are NOT ALLOWED).
PRINT AT YOUR OWN RISK. The lab is not responsible for paper jams, printer errors, etc.
If you want to print on paper other than the paper provided, please clear it with the Lab Monitor on duty. If we feel that your paper may cause a paper jam, you will not be allowed to use it. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO IT YOURSELF.
General Rules and Policies
By signing in, you agree to all ITS Lab rules and policies. Failure to comply with any of the rules and/or policies will result in immediate removal from the lab. Please refer to the UH IT Policy online at http://www.hawaii.edu/infotech/policies/itpolicy.html.
NO FOOD OR DRINKS ALLOWED NEAR THE COMPUTERS. Please finish them outside.
You will be asked to leave if you are using a computer in a manner deemed "inappropriate" (eg. pornography) or if you are using the computer in a manner that violates the student conduct code (go to http://www.hawaii.edu/student/conduct/ for details).
Please SIGN OUT if you are going to leave your computer for more than 10 MINUTES. If you are gone for more than 10 minutes, the computer lab reserves the right to assign your computer to someone else, if needed.
DO NOT CHANGE ANY OF THE COMPUTER SETTINGS OR INSTALL ANY SOFTWARE. You will be removed from the Computer Lab immediately if you are caught doing so. Repeat offenders will be banned permanently from using the Computer Lab.
Please be courteous to other Computer Lab users by NOT using cellular phones in the Computer Lab.
Please keep the noise down as people are trying to work.
